1968年に原型となるスウェード製トレーニングシューズ「CRACK」が登場して以後、50年以上にわたり様々なシーンで愛され続けてきた「PUMA SUEDE（プーマ スウェード）」。「PUMA SUEDE」が現在の形となったのは1979年以後、1970年代のPUMA契約アスリートの一人で「PUMA CLYDE」の着用シグニチャープレーヤーであったウォルト・フレイジャーがPUMAとの契約を離れたところからスタートしています。1980年代には数々の有名アーティストたちに愛用され、ヒップホップカルチャーやスケートシーンに欠かせないマストアイテムとして、世界中にその名を広めました。

日本のスニーカー文化を原宿から世界へ発信するプレミアム・スニーカーブティック＜KICKS LAB.＞で発売されるエクスクルーシブモデル＜PUMA SUEDE VTG HAIRY SUEDE＞は、1979年から1980年代中期まで旧ユーゴスラビアで生産されていた時期の"90681 Puma*"をイメージして作られたシューズ。1970年代に生産されていた"CLYDE"と同じセメント製法(アッパーとソールを接着剤のみで接合する製法)で生産され、アッパーサイドの”Clyde”シグニチャーを外した"90681 Puma*"の初期スペックを再現しております。オリジナルの"CLYDE"にも採用された由緒正しい配色である通称"BLACK×GOLD"。毛足が長く不揃いのヘアリースエードを採用し、太陽光により褪色した風合いを表現しております。ソール、シューレースについても経年変化により少しクリームがかった仕様のものを採用。

* 90681 Puma：SUEDEというストリートでの呼称が製品名になる前のプロダクトネーム。オリジナルが発売されていた当時の商品名は"Puma"。"PUMAのPuma"という呼称が分かりにくく、ストリートではそのまま"CLYDE"と呼ぶ人、"PUMAのスエードのシューズ"と呼ぶ人などがいた。時が流れ1990年代に入ると全世界でライフスタイルシューズとして人気が高まり、ストリートでの呼称であった"PUMAのスエードのシューズ"から「PUMA SUEDE」という商品名に採用された。これこそまさに「PUMA SUEDE」がストリートと共に存在するという事実を物語っているものである。



“PUMA SUEDE” has been loved at so many scenes and people for more than 50 years since CRACK made of SUEDE material was released as training shoes in 1968. After 1979, “PUMA SUEDE” has been the same silhouette as the current ones since “Walt Fraizer” who is the one of PUMA’s contract basket player and the signature player for “PUMA Clyde” in 1970s stopped to be with PUMA. In 1980s, “PUMA SUEDE” became famous all over the world because the various artists loved this shoes and this shoes become the essential item in the Hip-Hop culture and the SKATE scene.

“PUMA SUEDE VTG HAIRY SUEDE” which is released from the Premium Sneaker Boutique “KICKS LAB.”, who send the Japanese culture from Harajuku to the world is based on “90681 PUMA” made in Yugoslavia and was sold from 1979 to mid 1980. The production is the same way as “CLYDE” in 1970’s, which is used only adhesive to combine the upper and the sole. Also this style is introduced with the same way as the first type of “90681 PUMA” which didn’t have “CLYDE” signature on the upper. More over the color is the pedigreed color which is “BLACK x GOLD” used for the original “CLYDE”. The material is used hairy suede, long and random length and describing the feature of discoloration. Also for the lace and the sole, the ivory color is used to give expression of the secular change.

* 90681 Puma: Product name before the street name SUEDE became the product name. The original name was “Puma”. “PUMA’s Puma” made confusion for the market, therefore, some people called “CLYDE” as the previous name and some people called “PUMA’s SUEDE shoes”. After the few decades, in 1990s, this shoes became one of the most popular shoes in the market, “PUMA’s SUEDE Shoes” in the street culture became the official product name “PUMA SUEDE”. This can be the proof “PUMA SUEDE” is always along the Street culture.
